Feb. 14, 2001 Meeting Pets,
Fruit Flies May Hold Keys Who: Joan Hendricks, V.M.D.chief of the Critical Care Section at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. What: Dr. Hendricks will speak on "New and Old Animal Models of Sleep Disorders: Bulldogs and Beyond." Dr. Hendricks will summarize her own research, which aims to understand the basis for sleep apnea in dogs, and discuss new discoveries in the genetics of narcolepsy and the genetics of sleep-like rest in the fruit fly. Where: At the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The meeting will be conducted in the Surgical Conference Room, White Building. It is located to the right of the main entrance once you enter the hospital. When: 7 p.m. (Refreshments available at 6:30 p.m.) Notes: Please bring a pen or pencil and paper for taking notes. Refreshments will be available at 6:30 p.m. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
